A Children in Need project at Lifeworks

Radio-Cover-Blog-2

children in Need support Lifeworks

Ahead of Children in Need this Friday the 18th November, Lifeworks Specialist Further Education College were delighted to welcome BBC Radio Devon to interview our Lifeworks students, staff, parents and volunteers. The interview centered on how the funds we have received from Children in Need have had such a positive impact on young people with learning disabilities across Devon.

As a result of the support from Children in Need Lifeworks have been able to run weekend Youth Groups across Torbay, South Devon and the South Hams. Our Youth Group gives enriching weekend activities for young people with learning disabilities—building community, belonging and independence whilst having fun and getting active.

Sky’s Mum said; “Sky has been going to Lifeworks since she was nine years old, and Lifeworks have bent over backwards for her and for us as a family. For Sky and for us as parents it’s such a brilliant thing to see her come home really excited and happy about what she has done with her day when she has been with Lifeworks”

Lifeworks Youth Groups

Our Youth Groups are split into two groups. The Totnes Youth Group 11-18yrs & Torbay Young Adults Social 18-25yrs

Offering young people with learning disabilities a chance to make friends, experience the new, take the lead, get involved in community life and most importantly have a great time

COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES YOUTH GROUPS

Our Community Projects are co-designed by the young people themselves. Our young people should decide what their tomorrow looks like. So, with their ideas, hopes and aspirations we work with a network of local community partners to make it happen. Whether you already join us on Community Programmes or are new and interested in giving something a go – we would love to hear from you.
